Granite Town Farms, a family-owned and operated business since 1985, is nestled in the heart of wild blueberry country in St. George, New Brunswick, Canada on the beautiful Bay of Fundy. From here, owner David Hatt proudly grows all of his own northern wild blueberries to create a unique line of specialty and gourmet products from the ground up - from the Earth to you. The Granite Town Farms team constantly strives for new and innovative ways to better serve customers world-wide.

North American low-bush wild blueberries are unique in nature both in the way they grow and in the health benefits they provide. Unlike other fruit, including their cultivated cousins, they are not planted, only managed. Granite Town Farms manages over 500 acres of this unique fruit. These berries flourish among granite-strewn fields in northern Maine and eastern Canada, the only areas in North America where they are commercially harvested.

Also unique is the fact that wild blueberries are actually a biennial crop - a field is "pruned" one year, either by burning or mowing, and is harvested the following year. Harvest season is labor-intensive and short, spanning mid-August to mid-September. Fields are harvested carefully either using hand rakes or mechanical harvesters. They then undergo careful and intense hand-cleaning before going to market. This biennial growth pattern helps to explain why wild blueberries and their value-add products may seem expensive compared to annual fruits and vegetables.

Wild blueberries have also been ranked as nature’s number one antioxidant. The many health benefit contributions include anti-aging properties, urinary tract health, cancer prevention and vision health.
